Girls Basketball

 Story image 1_0

The NPHS girls basketball program is in the a class A division. All athletes are required to tryout every year in the first 2 to 3 days of practice in November. We have several coaches that put the girls through skills testing, and we use a rubric for scoring to establish rankings for each player, as well as observation of actual game situations and scenarios to help evaluate the players. We base which girls will play at which level based upon those evaluations. The season begins in late November and proceeds into the beginning of March. There are four different levels of teams. Each team is individually developed to work together as whole, acting as a stepping stone for the progression of NPHS athletics.

  • Freshmen- The freshmen team is built to teach fundamental basketball skills and playing time experience and opportunities with win as well as loss.

  • Reserve- The reserve team consist of upper level athletes where they can develop skills and get more court time.

  • Junior Varsity- The junior varsity team prepares athletes for varsity basketball while continuing to develop skills with practice and playing time.

  • Varsity- The varsity team is a competitive activity showcasing skills and work ethic to accomplish successful student athletes.
