North Platte Public Schools | Music
My name is Janette Kammerer. I am originally from Hoyt, CO and graduated High School from Wiggins High School, Wiggins CO. I received my Bachelor’s in Education with a K-12 Vocal /Instrumental endorsement from Chadron State College. In 2003 I received a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instructions from Doane College.
I am married to Anthony (Tony) Kammerer since 1997. We have three children Emily, Molly, and Noah. Our children attend Sutherland Public School where we live and are actively involved in the community.
My first year of teaching was at South Platte (Big Springs/Brule) where I taught 5-12 Instrument and 7-12 Vocal music. I Got married that summer and moved to Sutherland, NE where I taught K-12 Vocal/Instrument music, was the One Act Coach and helped with the Speech team. In 2001, I started teaching Elementary music at Ogallala Public Schools in Ogallala, NE. My first year I taught K-5 General Music at Prairie View. The next year the school changed the setup of the Elementary schools to Age Based Learning Centers. I stayed at Prairie View but began teaching only 3rd, 4th and 5th graders in the district. My last year at Ogallala, they restructured the music department and I began teaching K-5 again but in all three elementary buildings. I am currently teaching K-5 general music at Eisenhower and Washington Elementary Schools in North Platte, NE.
I am actively involved with our church, the Sutherland First Presbyterian Church. I help with music, children’s Sunday School, and our Community Youth Group. I also help organize a town wide Vacation Bible School in the summer with two other churches.
Music has always been an important part of my life. Both of my Grandfathers were very musically inclined with the abilities of singing and playing the guitar. I have always loved music and I love teaching. Teaching music is truly a passion of mine. I believe that every child should have music education. Not to make them the next star but to help them be more human. Music is the universal language that touches every single one of us.
