John Byrn, Principal
My name is John Byrn. I am originally from Lawrence, Kansas and graduated from Lawrence High School. I received my Associate’s degree from Butler County Community College, my Bachelor’s degree from Emporia State University and my Master’s degree from the University of Nebraska – Kearney.
I am married to Shelly Byrn. She is employed by North Platte Catholic Schools. We have two children, Samantha and Bryce. Samantha is attending Fort Hays State University and Bryce is attending Hastings College. I am the Principal at Jefferson Elementary.
Prior to coming to Jefferson, I was the Dean of Students at Madison Middle School and coached football, boys and girls basketball and in the summer a competitive girl’s fastpitch softball team. Our purpose at Jefferson is to prepare students to be productive, responsible citizens in a safe caring, supportive learning environment. We want to develop daily success; academically, socially and emotionally. We want to be an environment that promotes PRIDE (Positive Choices, Respect, Including everyone, Do the Right Thing, Encouraging others)
