North Platte High School | Industrial Technology
My name is Will Winchester I am originally from Ord, NE and graduated from Wolbach High School. I received my Bachelor’s degree from Wayne State College with a Field Endorsement in Industrial Technology, and my Master’s degree is from Wayne State College in Curriculum and Instruction.
I am married to Kristina Winchester. She is a full time mom . We have three children. Samuel, Joshua, and Rebekah Winchester.
I am a Welding Teacher, sponsor for SkillsUSA, and Intramural Basketball here at North Platte High. I have also taught small engines, automotive, metals, technical drawing, and construction for North Platte High. Before teaching at North Platte, I worked at ISCO manufacturing, Acreage fencing, and Overhead doors. I also teach drivers education at Mid-Plains Community College.
Our mission at North Platte High is to ensure that students acquire the knowledge and skills that will prepare them for post-secondary education and entry into the workplace. I teach dual credit welding to help students transition from high school to college. The program focuses on education that offers students the opportunities to learn the knowledge, applications, and attitudes to succeed in school, in life and in the workplace. Students are prepared to be citizens, informed consumers and effective workers.
As a teacher, I strongly believe that we are created to create. Teaching students to learn a skill that helps other people in the community is what I enjoy the most about teaching. My hope is that all students will understand their skills and abilities to help the people in their lives. It takes years before I see the students I taught in the community working at what they are passionate about but the time spent training student is worth the time I spend teaching.
