Washington Elementary | Special Education

My name is Kyla Maas. Between my roommates and I, we have four dogs. I personally own one dog, and he is pretty spoiled. During the summer, I love camping for weeks at a time in my small camper. I also love traveling outside of the state with my friends. We try to plan one big trip in the month of July. Last year we got to travel to St. Lucia and explored the beautiful island. I graduated from Doane College with my bachelors in special education in 2013. I then decided to pursue my Masters in Autism Spectrum Disorder and just graduated in October of 2017. This is my first year in the North Platte Public School District. For the past 5 years I have worked in Scottsbluff, Nebraska in an elementary self-contained special education classroom. As a teacher, I believe each of my students are capable of reaching their dreams. I believe it is so important to build relationships with each of my students. I also believe that it is so important for each student to feel safe and loved at school and in my classroom. No matter the challenges, I believe each and every one of my students is able to learn and succeed. It just looks a little different for each student.
