Washington Elementary | Special Education

My name is Ginger Rivera.  I am originally from Maxwell, Nebraska and graduated from Maxwell Public Schools.  I received my Associate Degree from Mid Plains Community College.  I received my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Kearney State College in the area of Specific Learning Disabilities K-12.

I am married to Larry Rivera.  He is retired now, but finished his working career in the Maintenance Department at North Platte Public Schools after working many years as a window glazier.

I am currently in my 6th year as the Resource Teacher at Washington Elementary School.  I have been in the North Platte Public School system for 34 years.  Prior to Washington, I taught at Eisenhower, McKinley, and Buffalo.

Our mission at Washington Elementary is to ensure that students are safe and secure. We strive to build a caring atmosphere and to have positive interactions between students and adults. We work to teach all students and we hold them to high standards. We focus on student learning, student achievement, and student success. We practice the Washington Way which means to be respectful, responsible, kind, safe, and a positive influence.  “Believe, Achieve, Succeed!”

As a Resource Teacher, I strongly believe that all students can learn. I must strive to build strong relationships with them and to give them the correct tools to be successful in life.  I believe that students are general education students first and that until we stop believing that students can’t achieve they won’t achieve.
